Projects

In the period Nov 2010 - March 2011 MetaSus conducted a market survey for sustainable waste management and (residual) biomass in Central America and Colombia. Partially as a result of new legislation in waste management and waste water treatment in Costa Rica and Colombia, promising opportunities were identified which were followed up with a proposal for a business mission to the area in the second half of 2011. Special emphasis was put on the identification of clusters of Dutch companies and institutions with an interest in doing business in Central America and/or Colombia. Especially in the field of biomass the interest turned out to be strong. The survey was carried out for the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, with active support by the Chamber of Industries in Costa Rica.

Contracted by the Dutch Association of Environmental Technology Suppliers (VLM) and in cooperation with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, MetaSus has conducted an analysis of the size and the export and innovation activities of the Dutch environmental technology sector. Over 1.000 companies were taken into acount. The outcome was partially based on existing knowledge among the team members, complemented with the results of a survey among 80+ company representatives. It was found that the sector provides jobs to some 30.000 people, with an annual added value of approximately EUR 2,8 billion. Renewable energy is the most important subsector, both now and in the future projections of the entrepreneurs. The report can be downloaded at the VLM website (in Dutch, 47pp).
